Hello!
I'm Gareth Ryans, a Northern Irish illustrator living and working in Hamburg, Germany. I was lucky enough to grow up within earshot of the wild sea and under the shadow of the beautiful and majestic Mountains of Mourne in County Down. I loved to draw back then and still do today.
After completing my studies in Fine and Applied Art as well as Design in Digital Media in Belfast and Donegal respectively, I followed my heart to Germany where I now live with my partner Meike and our two sons.
I love nothing more than creating new imagined worlds and characters, be it for my own ideas or to illustrate those of others. I work with both traditional analoge medium as well as digital image-making techniques , mostly in combination. My focus of late has been in the area of children's book illustration, but I'm also very open to working in other areas such as editorial illustration, packaging design, commissions or collaboration on creative projects.
